The low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal has strengthened further. It has intensified further and turned into a clear low pressure area. Due to this, four seaports of the country have been asked to display warning signal number 3.
This was informed in a warning issued by the Meteorological Department on Friday. It said that the low pressure area located in the northwest Bay of Bengal area off the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast of India has become a clear low pressure area at 6 am today. It is located in the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent central Bay of Bengal. The low pressure area may intensify further. Due to this, gusty or squally winds may blow over the north Bay of Bengal, coastal areas of Bangladesh and seaports. Therefore, fishing vessels in the north Bay of Bengal have been asked to approach the coast with caution until further orders.
The Meteorological Department further said that due to the influence of low pressure, the tendency of rain and thunderstorms along with gusty winds will increase across the country. As a result, rain may occur in all divisions including Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet for the next five days. Moderate to heavy rain may also occur in some places.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department’s forecast this morning said that the axis of the monsoon has spread from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, the center of the low pressure to the southern part of Bangladesh to Assam. Currently, the monsoon is somewhat weak over Bangladesh, but it is in a moderate to strong condition in the north Bay of Bengal.
